“Thumbing through a recent issue of The Business News, I saw Brian’s picture and took that as a sign to reach out.  I am writing to let you know that I think of Brian often.  In fact, Brian’s mantra I have taken on as my own.  It’s become a powerful part of my regular self checks.  It helps me ensure that I am living the life I want to be living every day.

It was 1997 when I was named as ta recipient to Brian’s Sales and Marketing Scholarship.  A lot has happened since then!  I’ve been blessed with a beautiful, loving family and a career that I thoroughly enjoy.

I thought you may appreciate knowing that Brian’s legacy absolutely lives on and that I appreciate you and the work you do to ensure that is does.  After all, the journey truly is the reward.”

Respectfully, Holly (Hahn) Brennen

I am honored to have been chosen. The money will be used this fall to help pay for my first semester at UW-GB. I plan to study psychology and history and perhaps become a teacher.“

“As I sat in the audience, watching and listening to the story about Ken Hess and how the scholarship came about, I was touched by the story and awe struck by the courage of one particular soldier. As the master sergeant began speaking about the recipient, never did I once consider that he was talking about me.

Receiving the scholarship was an incredible honor. The money will be a big help for school next year and the medal is a reminder of the incredible bravery and dedication that the men and women serving have to our country. I will continue to volunteer, knowing that it will never be as courageous as our soldiers, but hoping that whatever difference I can make in the community a meaningful one.
